Sixteen years of one volume control
Volume² has been developed by one person since January 2010. It has no company behind it, no investors and no advertising — just a long list of releases and a lot of bug reports.
The short version
The first release went out on 30 January 2010 with a one-line changelog. Sixteen years later the program does per-application volume, device switching, scheduling, an on-screen display you can reskin, Voicemeeter control, the OSC protocol and a command line — and it still starts instantly and sits in the tray using almost nothing.
The interface exists in 33 languages, nearly all of them contributed and corrected by the people who use it. Bugs are reported on GitHub, where every issue number in the release notes points back to the conversation that produced the fix.
